3) How does my team contact other teams?
  • A contacts list for New Jersey high school coaches and captains can be found here
  • This link takes you to a GoogleDoc in which you will need to sign in to view.  Viewable to only coaches/captains whose teams are on the contacts list.
  • If you wish your information removed or to add more information or if you wish your school to be included on this list, contact your State Youth Coordinator (Ben Haim, njHSultimate@gmail.com).

4) How many games does my team need to play to go to the State Championship tournament?
  • During the Spring Season, teams must play a minimum of four sanctioned games in their Section.
    • Teams can play one team twice.
  • Sectional Champions earn bids to D1 Open States.
  • In the Girls Division, there is no minimum games requirement.

5) Is there a minimum number of games my team needs to play to go to the State Qualifier tournament?
  • Teams do not have to play a required number of games to participate in the State Qualifier tournament.
  • All open teams are invited to compete in the State Qualifier, provided they fully register with USA Ultimate and create/submit an official roster.

6) How will teams be ranked after their four games?
  • After teams have played their four games, the standings in each Section will determine Sectional Champions (North I, North II, Central, South).
  • For a list of nationally ranked high school open teams, go here.

7) What is RRI exactly?
  • Regional rating index. RRI is an algorithm-based ranking system.  For each game a team plays, the team gets rating points.

8) If my team schedules and plays a game but our roster has less than seven registered players, does that game count?
  • If a team schedules and plays a game but with a roster of less than seven registered players, that game will not be sanctioned and will not be considered as part of division standings.
  • In other words, teams must have already created and entered a roster of at least seven registered players.
  • When a team completes their roster requirements, their results will then be considered and counted.

9) What if our team cannot schedule and play four games before April 14th?
  • If your team is unable to schedule and play four games before April 14th, the team is still welcome to compete at the  2013 USA Ultimate New Jersey HS State Open Qualifier Tournament (April 27-28, 2013)

  • Tournament fee to compete at the State Qualifier is $250 (on or before Wednesday, April 17) or $300 (after Wednesday, April 17).

  • Yes, of course.  Teams are always encouraged to schedule and play games.
  • Teams are also recommended to report scores to the state youth coordinator (njHSultimate@gmail.com) as well as enter their scores on the USA Ultimate Score Reporter and get their teams nationally ranked!
