2013 USA Ultimate New Jersey High School State Open Qualifier (April 27-28, 2012)
Where: Mercer County Ultimate Disc League (MCUDL) Fields at 4040 Quakerbridge Road Lawrence Township, New Jersey.
When: April 27-28, 2012
Who: eight to ten+ teams in two pools of four or five (subject to change).
How Much: $250 on or before Wednesday, April 12 ($300 after April 24). Payment can be made via Paypal to njHSultimate@gmail.com. Portion of tournament proceeds will help subsidize the Delaware Valley Youth League (DEVYL).
How: four Sectional Champions advance directly to the NJ HS D1 Open State Championship. The remainder of the field is invited to the NJ HS Open State Qualifier to compete for one of the four remaining spots at NJ HS Open State Championship.
NJ HS Open State Qualifier format: Saturday pool play, Sunday bracket play (see p. 29 of USA Ultimate Format Manual, Bracket 8.4 "Eight-team modified elimination - four teams advance").
The pool winners go straight to the finals, but if they lose, then other teams work their way up. Bracket play will result in 1-4 finishes that produce the 5-8 seeds needed to fill out at NJ HS Open State Championship.
This Sectionals-like format will create several meaningful games on Sunday including an exciting 4th vs. 5th game to see who is the last to move on.
